A method for performing TCP/IP based communication via different communication networks (5 to 9) comprises the step that a modified IP-layer (4, 41, 51) provides and/or activates IP-network modules which connect a communication device (2) with one of the communication networks (5 to 9) on demand, respectively, wherein the communication device (2) performs TCP/IP based communication via a specific communication network (5 to 9) using the corresponding provided/activated IP-network module.
