PURPOSE: An ink tank and an inkjet printer with the ink tank are provided to immediately detect the ink end by detecting the reflecting state of a reflective surface of the ink tank. CONSTITUTION: An ink tank(1) includes an ink chamber, an optical member(51), and a first ink-absorbing member(6). A vent(13) introducing the air and an ink outlet through which ink is taken out are formed in the ink chamber. The optical member comes in contact with ink included in the ink chamber. The optical member has an ink contact surface including a detection surface where the remaining amount of the ink of the ink chamber is optically detected according to the amount of the air introduced in the ink chamber through the vent. The first ink-absorbing member is arranged near the ink contact surface, to absorb the ink of the ink chamber. The ink chamber includes a first chamber(5) including a second ink-absorbing member maintaining ink and a second chamber(20) including the first ink-absorbing member and the optical member.
