<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the processing of jammed recording paper without burning a hand and damaging the exposed part of a belt member when a transfer material is jammed on the upstream side of a nip part. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a heat insulating shielding member movable to a shielding position at which the surface of the belt member opposed and exposed to a transfer material feeding path and the transfer material feeding path are shielded and a withdrawing position at which it is withdrawn from the shielding position, and is also provided with a press-contact releasing member to release the press-contact of the belt member and a pressing member, so that the press-contact is released by the press-contact releasing member only when the shielding member is moved to the shielding position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
