摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a geographical information providing system for easily providing a user with map-related geographical information as digital data by using an electronic pen as an input device.

SOLUTION: In this geographical information providing system, when the user uses an electronic pen to name a specific position on a printed matter printed with a map, its positional coordinates are transmitted to the providing system. Information on an actual position corresponding to the transmitted coordinates is acquired, and map data corresponding to the position is acquired and transmitted to the user's terminal device. By naming a desired position on the printed matter by using the electronic pen, the user can receive and display map data about the position at his/ her own terminal device. Further, by naming a specific starting position and a destination on the printed matter, it is possible to acquire information about a route between them on the terminal device.
