PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract only usable files from a mixture of the usable files and unusable files mixed and dispersed in a file system and to perform retrieval analysis while freely combining the extracted files together. SOLUTION: This information unit group operation device is provided with an information unit group retrieval means retrieving information unit groups each having a predetermined file format and serving as an assembly of information units from the file system in which files with various kinds of file formats are mixed, an information unit group designation means by which a user designates an information unit group from the information unit groups retrieved by the information unit group retrieval means, a retrieval conditio input means inputting a retrieval condition, a retrieval means retrieving an information unit matching the retrieval condition inputted from the retrieval condition input means from the information unit group designated by the information unit group designation means, and a retrieval result display means displaying the information unit retrieved by the retrieval means.
