摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change recording medium in which disk noise is reduced, an edge position of a recording mark is decided highly accurately and multi-value-recording of high recording density can be performed, and to provide an information recording method. <P>SOLUTION: (1) When multi-value information is recorded by the combination of the edge positions before and after a recording mark in the track direction in a phase change recording medium, modulation is performed between the levels being in a range where laser power a has relation of P1>P2>P3 and a power ratio of 0.72&ge;P2/P1&ge; 0.4. The rise timing from a power level P2 to P1 is changed in accordance with multi-value information. When a period in which a level is held at the P1 level is T1 and a period in which a level is held at the P3 level is T3, the length of T1 and T3 are changed in a range of 2.5&ge;T3/T1&ge;1.0. (2) When multi-value information is recorded on this phase change recording medium by the above information recording method, the intensity of the light reflected from a recording layer in a crystal state is lower than that from an amorphous state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
