PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for a gear transmission fluid in which a path to pass the gear transmission fluid through are prevented from crushing even if negative pressure is applied to the filter for the gear transmission fluid. SOLUTION: The filter for a gear transmission fulid comprises a base member 7, a cover member 8 attached to the base member 7 so as to form a space, and a filtration material 9 installed in the space surrounded with the base member 7 and the cover member 8. The filtration material 9 has an opening 9d connected to an inlet 7a to the space formed by the base member 7 and the cover member 8 and a communication hole 9e for communicating the fluid filtered by the filtration material 9 in its region. In the communication hole 9e, the boss 7d formed in the base member 7 and the boss 8d formed in the cover member 8 are butted to each other and a spacer 15 for keeping filtration materials 9a, 9b formed in bag-like shape from each other is installed in the surrounding of the communication hole 9e.
