<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of removing residual toner on a cleaning object by sufficiently vibrating the residual toner flocculated and grown on a cleaning member and also preventing an adverse effect such as an image defect by controlling the action of a fur brush, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the cleaning device. <P>SOLUTION: The cleaning device 17 for removing a matter adhering on a photoreceptor drum 11 is equipped with: a cleaning blade 43 abutting on the drum 11; an excitation means 51 provided separately from the blade 43 and vibrating the blade 43; a control circuit for controlling the operation of the means 51; and the fur brush 44 abutting on the drum 11.
