PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a superconducting magnet that can prolong a period to quenching without damaging the openness and installability of the magnet and without involving a significant cost increase when a freezer stops. SOLUTION: The upper portion at a side of a helium tank 1 is connected to an upper coil vessel 5U by an upper connecting pipe 4U, and the lower portion at the side of the tank 1 is connected to a lower coil vessel 5L by a lower connecting pipe 4L. A gas helium storage tank 2 is arranged in the tank 1. The gas helium storage tank 2 is supported in the interior of the bottom of the tank 1, the top face of which is closed and the lower face is opened, to continuously connect the lower portion of the gas helium storage tank 2 to the interior of the tank 1. When the freezer stops, gas helium 3G is generated and is collected in the upper portion of the interior of the gas helium storage tank 2 and the upper portion of the interior of the tank 1. Fall of liquid helium 3G from the top face of the interior of the tank 1 can be prevented by an amount of the gas helium generated in the interior of the gas helium storage tank 2.
