<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas excellent in a low temperature activity for cleaning an exhaust gas harmful component, particularly NO<SB>x</SB>, and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, an undercoat layer containing alumina and a catalyst component layer are provided on a honeycomb carrier. The undercoat layer has a function of a gas diffusion flow passage and has a plurality of discontinuous pores having a pore diameter of 2 μm or more. The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is manufactured by using a mixture of alumina and 1-50% to alumina of a material to be decomposed and extinguished by firing, drying, melting and other physical/chemical treatment or a material to be extinguished by burning, and the discontinuous pores having a pore diameter of 2 μm or more are formed in the undercoat layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
