PURPOSE: A device for preventing a disapproved program from being used and a method thereof are provided to prevent a use of disapproved program effectively. CONSTITUTION: A prevention device for a monitor judges whether a display information request exists from a computer(S2A01). If a display information request exists, a special character including a DDC(Display Data Channel) ROM is appended to the display information and the special character is transmitted to the computer(S2A02). The computer transmits a response signal to the monitor, the monitor checks the response signal, and the prevention device for a monitor checks whether a response signal as to the special character code is received(S2A04). If the response signal is checked, it is judged that a prevention device for a computer is installed in a computer main body(S2A05). An operation of the prevention device for a computer is described as follows. The prevention device for a computer requests display information to the monitor(S2B01). If display information is received from the monitor(S2B02), it is judged whether a special character is included in the display information(S2B04). If a special character is included, it is judged that a prevention device for a monitor is installed in the monitor, and an execution program is sensed(S2B05). It is judged whether the execution program is an approved program(S2B06). If the execution program is an approved program, a special control is not executed and a screen is displayed normally(S2B07).
