摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system therefor for the segmentation of medical images, more concretely, the segmentation of concerned areas in 3-dimensional medical images to be used for volumetric measurement. <P>SOLUTION: The 1st pair of seed points are specified for the concerned area (200) and interior section (202), and the 2nd pair of seed points are located for the concerned area (200) and exterior section (204). The 1st globe figure (210) is drawn in an interior section of the concerned area (200). The voxels contained in a medical image (135) are classified in accordance with space restriction type fuzzy clustered algorithm. A plurality of the 2nd globes are generated before the globe out of the plurality of the 2nd globes (220) that satify a uniform function threshold specified in accordance with the space restriction type fuzzy clustered algorithm is determined to be qualified. The 3-dimensional area (230) is allowed to grow so that the concerned area (200) can be fractionated.
