摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic apparatus whose setting-up operation can be simplified by a method wherein a drive part automatically detects the position of a plunger for a syringe which holds a gel. SOLUTION: A drive unit which is used to pressurize the syringe holding the gel is composed of DC motors 13, 14, drive parts 17, 18 and linear encoders 19, 110. On the basis of the movement amount of each drive part obtained from each linear encoder, the movement speed of each drive part is found. The found movement speed of the drive part is compared with a threshold value. Whether the drive part is brought into contact with the plunger is judged. Thereby, although the alignment of the drive part with the plunger for the syringe is required in conventional cases after the syringe is set up, the alignment is automated. As a result, the setting-up operation is simplified, and its time can be shortened.
