PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing images between wireless video terminals are provided to transmit an image previously set by a called party to a calling party's terminal. CONSTITUTION: An image providing system includes a controller(610), an image processor(530), an image setting unit(550), an image request processor(570), and an image transmitter(590). The image processor receives a standby image selected by a called party from the called party's terminal to store the image in a database(630) and accepts a real-time image of the called party's terminal. The image setting unit sets whether the real-time image is provided to the calling party's terminal or the standby image is transmitted to the calling party's terminal when a communication path is made between the called party and calling party. The image request processor receives a signal of requesting the calling party to transmit an image from a radio network proprietor. The image transmitter transmits the image to the calling party's terminal when the request is accepted from the image request processor.
