PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization catalyst for efficiently producing a polymer which has a high content of a cis 1,4-structure in the microsturcture, a moderate molecular weight easy to mold, and simultaneously a narrow molecular distribution. SOLUTION: The catalyst composition for the polymerization of a conjugated diene comprises (A) a metallocene type complex of a rare earth metal compound, (B) an aluminoxane, and (C) a combination of two or more organometallic compounds of groups I to III elements in the periodic table.
