PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for transmitting/receiving data in which efficient transmission/reception of data can be realized. SOLUTION: Data added with a packet header including a header ID code, a data length code, and a data type code is transmitted/received. When data is transmitted/received, a decision is made whether the data is compressed or not based on the data type code. If the data is compressed, the data is transmitted while being compressed such that the header ID code is not included. When data is received, a decision is made whether compressed data is received or not based on the data type code. If compressed data is received, the data is received continuously while detecting the header ID code (14). Otherwise, detection of the header ID code is invalidated (16), and a volume of data (11) designated by the data code length is received (12, 16). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
