PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkylbenzene sulfonate composition and the like which, while maintaining high detergency, are excellent in low foaming property and free of foreign odor. SOLUTION: The composition, which comprises an alkylbenzene sulfonate having an alkyl carbon chain length of any of 5-14, is characterized by containing 70 mass% or more of an alkylbenzene sulfonate having an alkyl carbon chain length of any of 6-11 and 5 mass% or less of an alkylbenzene sulfonate having an alkyl carbon chain length of 12 or more.
