PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out successful maintenance by sure discharge of contaminants such as paper powder or particles such as air bubbles adhered to the inside of orifices or near orifices. SOLUTION: In an inkjet head which has a head body 1 with many orifices arranged for ejecting ink drops from the orifices to record on a recording medium, and ink supply means 3, 4 and 5 for providing ink to the head body via an ink feed-passage 6, there are set a pressure control means 8 which controls to eject ink from each orifice by applying pressure to the ink feed-passage and governs a pressure of an ink-level of each orifice to be near atmospheric pressure, a suction nozzle 12 which sucks ink in each orifice and near orifices when the ink-level of each orifice is at pressure near the atmospheric pressure, and a pump 16. The pressure control means governs the pressure of the ink-level of each orifice to be near the atmospheric pressure after ejecting ink from each orifice by controlling the pressure of the ink feed-passage.
