PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of both end parts of a spool shaft in a spool shaft supporting structure of a double bearing reel in which both end parts of the spool shaft are sharply formed. SOLUTION: Tapered parts 25b and 25c having diameters becoming smaller towards both end parts of the spool shaft 25 are formed at the middle part of the spool shaft 25. Bearings 26 and 27 separable relatively to the tapered parts 25b and 25c are installed at opposed faces of the tapered parts 25b and 25c. The bearings 26 and 27 are separated from the tapered parts 25b and 25c according to the turning off of a clutch operation member linked to a change member 28 and brought into contact with the tapered parts 25b and 25c according to the turning on of the clutch operation member.
