PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method by which clogging of a submerged nozzle can be prevented while supplying electric current into molten steel from the submerged nozzle and low-cost operation and facility are realized. SOLUTION: In the method for continuously casting the molten steel, at least the inner surface of the submerged nozzle 7 is constituted of a refractory having good electric conductivity at a temperature of not lower than the melting point of the steel and the casting is performed while supplying the electric current into the molten steel stream flowing in the inner part from this refractory, In the method, a nozzle holding holder 9 is fitted to the outer periphery of the submerged nozzle, and the submerged nozzle and the nozzle holding holder are disposed in a nozzle holding device 20 which holds the submerged nozzle so as to come in close cotact with a tundish 1. Then, an electrode 11 is brought into contact with the refractory having good electric conductivity so as to penetrate the nozzle holding holder or through the nozzle holding holder to supply the electric current to the refractory having good electric conductivity.
