ILLUMINATING LIGHT PRODUCTION SYSTEM, LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE USING THE SYSTEM, AND PROJECTION DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem wherein a projected image is made dark in the case that a white chromaticity is compensated by losing green color light because illuminating light superior in white balance cannot be realized in a projection display device using a discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp and a laser light source are combined, and the laser light source radiates laser light of a specific wavelength or its neighbor having a low intensity in a visible spectrum radiated from the discharge lamp, and a means for converging radiated light of the discharge lamp as well as that of the laser light source and a means for synthesizing optical paths to produce single illuminating light are used to improve color rendering properties of illuminating light.
