SYSTEM FOR CRYOGENICALLY REMOVING RESIDUE FROM CONTAINERS

A method and apparatus for the cleaning of the residue from the surface of a container (20) where the method comprises cooling the container (200) and residue adhered to the container surface to a low temperature, substantially embrittling the residue, fragmenting the residue, separating the residue fro m the surface of the container and removing the residue from the container. Th e container is placed in an enclosure (110) with an opening in the top of the enclosure (110) to permit access to the interior of the container (200) when a container lid (30) is removed. The system includes a rotating base (28) to turn the container to facilitate freezing and removal of the residue.
