FIELD: veterinary microbiology. SUBSTANCE: industrial strain of bacterium Escherichia coli = 27 0138:K88 shows typical properties of Escherichia strains by morphological, cultural and enzymatic properties. The strain is agglutinated with sera: "O"-coli 0138 and adhesive K88 by serological properties in agglutination reaction on glass. Strain produces thermolabile enterotoxin. Antigenic activity. Anti- Toxic and humoral immunity is produced after administration of antigen to animals. Virulence. Value LD50 for white mice is 4.6 x 107 living bacterial cells after intraperitoneal administration. Concentration of bacterial cells in culturing the strain is 50-60 billion. Strain is useful for preparing coli-bacteritic vaccines, diagnostica, for preparing hyperimmune curative sera and globulins.
