DEVICE FOR SENSING ROTATION OF BACK UP ROLL

PURPOSE: A device for sensing rotation of back up roll is provided to prevent generation of flaws due to slip and surface defects of product due to the flaws in advance by installing a rotation sensing device for generating n pulses for one revolution of the back up roll, thereby realtime sensing up to fine slip of the back up roll. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a pair of rotation gears(21,22) installed on the outer circumferential surface of a hydraulic nut(20) connected to a front end part of the back up roll; a base(24) installed on the outer circumferential surface of a chock cover(6) installed on the circumferential surface of the hydraulic nut(20); sensors(27a-27d) installed on an upper part of the base(24) by means of plate(25) to sense rotation of the rotation gears(21,22); a box(29) installed on an upper part of the base(24) to protect the sensors(27a-27d); a converter(30) installed on an upper surface of the box(29) to convert sensing values of the sensors(27a-27d) into digital signals; a PLC (programmable logic controller) connected to the converter(30) by cable; and a display means connected to the PLC by cable to display the number of revolutions of the back up roll as pulses.
