PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator which is simple in structure and can reduce running costs and improve the efficiency of separation of foreign substances from tea-leaves. SOLUTION: The separator has a conveyer belt 10 which is slanted at a prescribed angle to make one end 10b higher than the other end 10a and conveys the tea-leaves from the end 10a to the end 10b. While the tea-leaves are conveyed by the belt 10, balls in the tea-leaves are dropped to the end 10a to be separated. The separated balls are conveyed to a ball loosening apparatus having a housing part which can be turned upside down. The tea-leaves are conveyed to an unloading process or a process prior to the unloading process. Normal tea-leaves are conveyed to a next process. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
