<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code difficult to duplicate and decode, and its reader. <P>SOLUTION: A bar code 1, comprising a combination of several kinds of line elements having different line width, is formed by a combination of several kinds of height having different height and is specified by the combination of line widths and the combination of line heights. Because the bar code is formed by the combination of several kinds of line height having different height, the original bar code can not be reproduced by planar duplication and the decoding is difficult.
