<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device having sealing layers which seal element portions by covering them, and which can suppress propagation of destruction of the element portion effectively when the destruction of the element portion occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL device comprises a glass substrate 10 ; the element portions 50 consisting of an anode 20 which is formed by lamination in sequence on whole surface of the substrate 10, an organic layer 30 and cathodes 40; and the sealing layers 60 which seal the element portions 50 by covering them. The sealing layers 60 are formed by laminating amorphous thin films 61 such as AL<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>which has amorphous structure, and a pillared crystal thin film 62 such as ZnO which has pillared crystal structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
