METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING PCB IN GASEOUS PHASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) in a gaseous phase by which PCB in a gaseous phase is not simply removed but can be made harmless by degradation.

SOLUTION: The object gas containing PCB is irradiated with at least UV or ultrasonic waves or alternately and repeatedly irradiated with UV and ultrasonic waves and an organic hydrogen donor is allowed to exist, whereby the PCB can be degraded by dechlorination with high efficiency.
