PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor of low cost by means of an inductance detection circuit of simple constitution while achieving linearity improvement, temperature compensation, etc. SOLUTION: Pulse trains having pulse widths respectively corresponding to time constants of two sets of a resistance and a coil are outputted, the pulse widths are counted and discriminated at a micro-time interval to be digitalized, and torque added to a rotation shaft and detecting part temperature information are detected. Using standard torque and detecting part temperature information for each torque sensor as an index, a two-dimensional table of digital torque quantity as one-dimensional information is provided in a memory. Detection data are converted for each torque detection to simultaneously execute linearity improvement and temperature compensation to torque detection output. Adjustment is not necessary after manufacturing, and mass production stability is excellent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
