<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail for tatami mats that has a sufficient strength by being firmly fixed to the upper surface of a tatami mat. <P>SOLUTION: The handrail for tatami mats has a flat-plate like fixing means 1 fixed on the upper surface of a tatami mat, supports 2 erected on the fixing means 1, and a handrail member 3 connecting the top ends of supports 2 nearly horizontally.
