PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate open/close operations on an original mounting glass of an automatic draft feeder (ADF) on an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The automatic draft feeder is provided, in the inside of a feeder body A, with: a push-up member 32 to be moved up and down by the rotation of a gear G3; and a motor M for transmitting power to the gear G3 via gears G1, G2 and an electromagnetic clutch C. The push-up member 32 is vertically moved by changing over the rotation of the motor M in the normal or reverse direction every time a switch SW is pressed, thereby rotating the gear G3 clockwise or counterclockwise. The ADF is moved vertically, that is, opened or closed by following up a roller 33 provided at the upper end of the push-up member 32 by self-weight. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
