PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging device capable of readily adjusting the frequency characteristic of an RF (radio frequency) coil at low costs and to provide a method for adjusting the frequency characteristic. SOLUTION: The distance between an RF coil part 263b positioned within a vertical magnetic field to perform at least either the transmission or reception of high-frequency magnetic field signals and an RF shield part 262b positioned a predetermined distance away from and oppositely to the RF coil part 263b to prevent magnetic interference with the RF coil part 263b is adjusted by causing sliding of a sliding member 320 which is caused to slide toward or away by the action between a forward screw part 330a and a reverse screw part 330b provided on a shaft 330 which is rotated by, e.g., a motor 360.
