PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure an echo-suppressed or erased high call quality in a call after route setup in a communication system having a two-wire/four-wire hybrid circuit and an echo canceler and having a function for connecting a plurality of routes and changing the routes. SOLUTION: The communication system has a training signal source for outputting a training signal to the echo canceler and a switch circuit for switching an ordinary input and an input of the training signal to the echo canceler, and a control device performs training of the echo canceler and converges it by supplying the training signal from the training signal source to the echo canceler while carrying out control in the route connection and its change and controlling changeover of the switch circuit.
