PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To abate the labor and expenses of replenishment of chemicals by suppressing the excessive addition of a slime control agent for suppressing slime formation by microorganisms proliferated in a paper making white water system. SOLUTION: In the paper making white water system, at least one of the followings is detected: the temperature by a temperature sensor 25a for the water quality of the white water system; the pH by a pH sensor 25b for the water quality of the white water system; and the dissolved oxygen concentration by a dissolved oxygen sensor 25c for the water quality of the white water system. Also, the probability of slime generation is predicted based on the results of the detection and the amount of the above addition is determined in accordance with the degree of the probability.
