PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating plants using a fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer, an apparatus for cultivating the plants and a fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer retaining member. SOLUTION: The fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer 30 is held in the retaining member 40 and dipped in a liquid such as water kept in a liquid storage tank 10. The fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer 30 is brought into contact through a liquid passage part formed in the retaining member 40 with the liquid such as water and the fertilizer components thereof are eluted into the liquid. Furthermore, the liquid mixed with the fertilizer components is fed through a liquid feed pipe 22 and fed from a water sprinkling tube 24 to a cultivation bed 100. Thereby, the fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer 30 is not used as a placing fertilizer so as to elute the fertilizer effect regulating type fertilizer 30 with a liquid sprayed on a cultivation region of the plants but is used so as to positively mix the fertilizer components in the liquid sprayed on the cultivation region of the plants.
