<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery capable of restraining degradation of current collection capacity in the electrode, and of improving a charge-discharge cycle characteristic, in a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery provided by disposing an active material layer containing active material particles containing silicon and/or a silicon alloy and a binder on a surface of a collector formed of conductive metal foil and thereafter sintering it in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: This negative electrode is characterized by that the average particle diameter of the active material particles is 1-10 μm; for particle size distribution, 60 vol.% or more of them are present in the particle diameter range of 1-10 μm; and preferably, the oxygen content of each active material particle is 0.5 wt.% or below. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
