PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material presenting device for displaying an appropriately read image under any environment by automatically performing white balance and color balance corrections. SOLUTION: This material presenting device is provided with a stage for placing material, an image reading means for reading an image in the material placed on the stage and an operating means for controlling a reading operation of the image reading means, processing the read image and outputting the processed image to a prescribed display device. The operating means has a balance correction function which reads white level chart and color chart prepared in advance by the image reading means and performs a white balance correction and a color balance correction on the basis of these read signals. The white level chart and the color chart are arranged on the stage around an area that can be read in advance by the image reading means. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
