PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension means which can maintain the adjusted initial tension of a traction means without generating a change in any case that the tension device is arranged on a loose side or a tensile side. SOLUTION: A housing/fitting housing 2, a roller carrier 3 connected to the housing/fitting housing freely to turn, a bearing 4 for supporting the roller carrier in relation to the housing/fitting housing, and a spring provided between the roller carrier and the housing/fitting housing to give the tensile force are provided. A lock device for allowing the turning of the carrier in a first direction 15 in relation to the housing/fitting housing 2 and for limiting or hindering the turning thereof in a second direction 17 opposite to the first direction is provided.
