摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a magnetic head suitable for mass production and compatible to high-density magnetic recording by preventing contact between glass and ferrite by precise gap film, reducing stress of the gap film to the ferrite and enhancing adhesiveness between the gap film and melting glass. SOLUTION: In the magnetic head, gap film 3, 4 are formed on at least one abutment face among a pair of magnetic core substrates 1, 2 made of oxide magnetic materials, the pair of magnetic core substrates 1, 2 are abutted by using the gap films 3, 4 as abutment surfaces and a magnetic gap g is formed between the abutment surfaces. In such a case, the membranes made of platinum or metal mainly made up of a platinum group or alloy are used as the gap films 3, 4. In addition, films made of Cr or alloy mainly made up of Cr, Ti or alloy mainly made up of Ti or Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>or oxide mainly made up of Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>may be used as the gap films 3, 4.
