<p>In a single-stage process to manufacture textured yarn consisting of several multi-filament (1) melt-spun fast-moving threads (5), the threads are subjected to joint and simultaneous puckering within a microwave field. The puckering process may consist of a series of processes which are undertaken jointly and simultaneously. The processes are compression puckering, fixing, puckering, heating and stretching. Compression puckering takes place in the presence of compressed air at normal temperature. The thread puckering may be partly reversed for the manufacture of set-yarn by heating and stretching within a further microwave field. The microwave process is monitored by monitoring the thread tension. Threads are released to the microwave field via a twist ring oiler with discharge jet (2).</p> |
