PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit and a lamp house having simple mechanisms and capable of easily aligning the optical axes of a light source lamp and an optical engine, and to provide an image display device on which the lamp unit and the lamp house are mounted. SOLUTION: In the lamp unit 20 to be stored in the lamp house 10, a lamp holder on which a circular radial window 22a having a center axis approximately coincident with the optical axis of the light source lamp and a ring-like engaging part 22b arranged on the peripheral edge of the radial window 22a are arranged in a state energized by a spring. When the lamp unit 20 is stored in the lamp house 10, an engaging projected part 22b of the lamp house 10 is engaged with an engaging recessed part to align the optical axes and fix the lamp unit 20.
