PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an incinerator which detoxicates harmful substances such as halogen-based substances, dioxins, for example, and heavy metals contained in burnt ash inside the incinerator without using any melting furnace for disposing burnt ash. SOLUTION: In this incinerator, a waste drying zone 11a, a burning zone 11b, and a post-burning zone 11c are arranged sequentially from the inlet side in a combustion chamber 1. Inside the combustion chamber 1, a middle ceiling 8 is arranged so that unburnt gas generated in the drying zone 11a is mixed with burnt gas generated in the burning zone 11b in a space above the post-burning zone 11c.
