Method and apparatus for treating overspray

A process for reclaiming overspray from water based paints, occuring in a spray booth involves: a) collecting overspray in the booth water tank (7) where solid particles are formed; b) accumulating the water and solid particle mixture and mixing with a coagulating agent; c) pressing the coagulated material to remove water which is returned to the booth water supply; d) drying the resulting filter cake; e) driving out any residual water which is returned to the water supply leaving a dry filter cake. Process equipment includes a water tank (7) for collecting overspray from the spray booth (13); a flocculation chamber (1) with stirrer (14) and metering system (19) for adding coagulating agent; a press (3) for squeezing water out of the coagulated material; a trough (11) to collect water squeezed from a cake and supply it to a filtrate storage tank(5) and a dryer (15) for filter cakes.
