In an apparatus for preparing radiographs wherein the X-ray source and the image forming means are coupled for reciprocal movement in parallel planes by a rod, which rod is pivotable about a horizontal shaft adjustable in height, with respect to the patient supporting couch, on a support which is arranged to be displaceable longitudinally of said couch, the pivot shaft support is equipped so that it may either be fixed relative to the patient when the X-ray tube and image forming means are able to reciprocate on the pivot, or the shaft support may be coupled to the X-ray tube support or the support for the image forming means so that these two are held in a fixed orientation and no longer reciprocable. In the latter arrangement the tube and image forming means are displaceable as a unit longitudinally of the couch. In the preferred embodiment, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, the pivot shaft support 19 is equipped with a vertically slidable pin 23 which at one end of its traverse enters socket 24 in the table frame, when tube 9 and imaging means 22 are able to reciprocate in parallel planes about pivot 18 with the assistance of telescopic rod 17. At the other end of its traverse, pin 23 is able to enter socket 25 in tube support 7 when tube 9 and imaging means 22 are vertically opposed, and no longer reciprocable, although they may be moved longitudinally along rail 20. The movement of the pin may be achieved electromagnetically, or by an electric motor using push-button controls, or it may be achieved manually. |
