Floor coverings, e.g. carpets, are fixed, esp. on stairs, using an adhesive tape and an adhesive. The tape has a carrier layer and has adhesive on both sides. The adhesive is used to adhere the back of the floor covering, esp at positions which are subject to sheer forces. The adhesive is in paste, liquid or hot melt form, and consists of e.g. an epoxy resin or a polyurethane adhesive.
