PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary kiln exhibiting a high heat efficiency by improving heat transmission between high temperature gas and the burden of a material to be processed, giving no ill effects on the processing capacity of the kiln, and heating cement, lime, and other minerals at high temperature. SOLUTION: This rotary kiln 100 is provided with a body having an inner wall 120 and a refractory lining 105 which is disposed adjacent to the wall inside, has 3-side to 12-side polygonal cross sectional shape, and is so formed that most of the burden 115 fed to the kiln is repeatedly exposed to high temperature gas, when the body is rotated. The refractory lining is formed by disposed with a plurality of bricks and casting a castable ceramic material in the inner wall having a plurality of anchor members.
