PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption in a partial display state in an electro-optical device and electronic equipment using a liquid crystal display device as a display device. SOLUTION: In the electro-optical device having a function which can set only a part of a display screen to a display state and can set the other part to a non-display state, an applied voltage to a scanning electrode is fixed to a non-selected voltage and an applied voltage to a signal electrode is fixed to the same voltage level as entire screen on indication or entire screen off indication at least for a prescribed period with respect to a non-display area.
