PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device preventing a malfunction. SOLUTION: If the capacity of a capacitor C3 is made to be not more than 22nF, the capacity of a capacitor C1 of a dimmer 31 is generally at least 0.15μF, so that the capacity of the capacitor C3 can be sufficiently made small in regard to the capacitor C1. After clipping the input voltage of an inverter main circuit 37 in one half of a peak value of the voltage of a commercial ac power supply e, both end voltage of a TRIAC Q1 rises not less than a predetermined value, so that the TRIAC Q1 is certainly turned on. The ON action of the TRIAC Q1 is stabilized, and the TRIAC Q1 becomes ON time symmetrical by positive/negative. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
