<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an oriented carbon nanotube film consisting of a large number of oriented carbon nanotubes and to provide an oriented film comprising thin carbon nanotubes having excellent performance in field emission characteristics or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Catalyst fine particles are deposited on a porous carrier having 0.1-50 nm pores prepared by a sol-gel method, and a carbon compound is decomposed to form a film of carbon nanotubes oriented in the perpendicular direction to the carrier on the carrier surface. As for the source sol, a dispersion liquid of alumina fine particles, aluminum hydroxide fine particles, silica fine particles or a mixture of these is used. Or, a solution of aluminum alkoxide, alkoxysilane or a mixture of these is used with a combustible or pyrolytic organic compound added as a template for micropores. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
