PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact scavenging tank and a cylinder frame. SOLUTION: In the scavenging tank of a large two-stroke, uniflow scavenging type internal combustion engine and the cylinder frames (30 and 30') disposed on a frame (2) of a crank case of the engine, the cylinder frames (30 and 30') have an upper plate (31) having at least one circular hole (39) to receive and support a cylinder liner (6). The cylinder frames (30 and 30') further have a first side wall (32) having at least one port (38) to pass the scavenging. The scavenging tank (4) is directly fitted to the cylinder frames with a slender cavity facing the cylinder frames. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
